The Oxfordshire Way follows public footpaths and bridleways and passes through some of the loveliest parts of the heart of England’s green and pleasant land. Starting in at Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire, it visits quiet villages with ancient churches built from honey coloured limestone. Leaving the Cotswolds, it passes very close to Blenheim Palace, the world heritage site where Winston Churchill was born before crossing the wide Thames valley. It then climbs the chalk escarpment to the Chiltern Hills, with their stunning beech woods and flint and brick buildings, before dropping down to the River Thames at Henley to the end of the route. |
